Aslynn Halvorson of Butler HS (Matthews, NC) broke the Penn Relays record in the high school girls discus this morning. Halvorson threw 161 feet, 8 inches (49.28 meters) to break the 160-5 (48.90) mark of Linda Grigoriev (Atholton HS, Columbia, MD), set in 2003. Halvorson finished second at last year’s Relays.

The Penn Relays are the largest annual track and field meet in the United States and the largest annual relay meet in the world. Over the course of three days, 19,000 athletes from all levels will race in front of 115,000 spectators. The 2010 Penn Relays will be from April 22-24.
