Nick Vena (Morristown, NJ) has been named the 2009 high school boys athlete of the meet for individual events. Vena won the shot put (for the second year in a row) with a throw of 72 feet, 2-1/2 inches (22.01 meters), breaking the Relays record by nearly five feet and becoming the first sophomore to break the 70-foot barrier.

The Penn Relays are the largest annual track and field meet in the United States and the largest annual relay meet in the world. Over the course of three days, 19,000 athletes from all levels will race in front of 115,000 spectators. The 2010 Penn Relays will be from April 22-24.
