High School Boys Relays Athlete of the Meet
Julian Forte of Jamaica’s Wolmer’s Boys ran the third leg on the winning 4×100-meter relay before anchoring the championship 4×400-meter relay with a split of 47.17.
College Men Relays Athlete of the Meet
Oregon’s Matthew Centrowitz ran leadoff, the 1200-meter leg, on the Ducks’ winning distance medley relay and anchored the victorious 4xmile relay. Those were Oregon’s first wins ever at the Penn Relays.
College Men Individual Athlete of the Meet
LSU’s Walter Henning defended his hammer throw championship when he unleashed a toss of 237-9, the fifth-longest throw in Penn Relays’ history. His throw is the best Relays performance in the last 15 years.
College Women’s Relay Athlete of the Meet
Gabby Mayo of Texas A&M is your 2010 college women’s athlete of the meet for relay events. Mayo ran on three winning relays teams for the Aggies, the 4×100 (43.09), the 4×200 (1:29.42) and the shuttle hurdles (52.50). The 4×2 and shuttle hurdle times established new collegiate records.
High School Boys Individual Athlete of the Meet
Pat Schellberg of Delbarton School has been named the high school boys individual athlete of the meet after breaking the Carinval record in the mile run with his 4:08.07 victory.
High School Girls Relay Athlete of the Meet
Chris Ann Gordon of Holmwood Tech has been named the High School Girls’ Outstanding Relay Athlete of the 2010 Penn Relays.
Gordon anchored two winning relays on Friday, the 4×400 and the 4×800. In the 4×400 she split 52.8 to finish off a 3:39.66, and in the 4×8 she ran 2:09.95 for Holmwood’s 8:42.49.

Not surprisingly, from Edwin Allen (JA) is our 2009 High School Girls Athlete of the Meet for Individual Events. Ms. Tracey won the intermediate hurdles in 57.44, which was the 2nd fastest ever run at Penn. She also ran a faster time than the college champion. Congrats Nikita Tracey !
College Women's Athlete of the Meet
LaTavia Thomas of LSU has been named the College Women’s Athlete of the Meet for relay events after anchoring the Tigers to victories in both the 4×800m and sprint medley relays. The West Catholic High grad also ran the third leg on LSU’s second-place 4×400m relay.
High School Boys' Athlete of the Meet
Alwayne Green of Manchester (Jam.) has been named as the High School Boys’ Athlete of the Meet in Relay Events after leading his team to victory in the 4×800m relay with a come-from-behind final carry. His 1:53.0 split capped Manchester’s time of 7:43.22.

The University of Texas Longhorn standout Leonel Manzano was named the Athlete of the Meet for relay events for anchoring the ‘Horns to victory in the distance medley relay and the 4xmile relay, both repeat wins. High School Boys' Athlete of the Meet
Nicholas Vena of Morristown (NJ) High School is the High School Boys’ Athlete of the Meet for individual event for winning the shot put with a throw of 63-6 3/4, the ninth-best throw in Relays’ history. With his performance, Vena sets an all-time outdoor U.S. high school record for ninth graders.
College Women's Athlete of the Meet
The College Women’s Athlete of the Meet for individual events is Purdue University’s Kara Patterson, who won the javelin throw championship with a throw of 184-1 (56.10 meters). That was the second-longest throw in Penn Relays’ history.
It's Quite Crowded
Attendance figures were ‘close-but-no-cigar’ all weekend long as the Relays missed three attendance marks by less than 1,000 fans. Today’s gathering of 49,831 is among the greatest ever.

2008 Wall of Fame
The Penn Relay Carnival — which created the Wall of Fame in 1994 at the time of the 100th running — welcomes its class of 2008, the 15th group of inductees, to bring its numbers to 75 individuals and 65 relay teams. Four individuals and four relay teams were selected by a panel of Penn Relays experts. The sole restriction in the nomination process is that only retired athletes (or those now competing as masters) may be nominated, and inductees are honored solely for their accomplishments at the Penn Relays; achievements in any other meets are not considered. Any relay team may be nominated, and nominations of relay teams and individuals will be accepted by the Penn Relays office at any time and from any interested party.
2008 Carnival Awards
At the time of the 100th running of the Relay Carnival in 1994, the Penn Relays Wall of Fame was inaugurated. It was designed then to honor the great athletes and relay teams who have competed in the Relays and it continues to perform that task admirably.
